1M Teachers: Sanusi Becomes Advisory Board Chairman

A Canada-based social intervention organisation committed to providing access to quality teacher education to communities around the world,1 Million Teachers Inc., has approved the appointment of His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, CON, Emir of Kano as Chairman of its Advisory Board in Nigeria, as well as, a Board Member of its parent organization, 1 Million Teachers Canada.

While announcing the appointment in Kano on Saturday 10th August, 2019, Chief Executive Officer, 1 Million Teachers, Hakeem Subair, expressed excitement about the development, stressing that Sanusi’s appointment would be a of great motivation for the group.

“It is therefore with great pleasure that we welcome His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, CON, Emir of Kano, as Chairman, Advisory Board of 1 Million Teachers,” he said.

“By accepting this role, in addition to his recent appointment as a Sustainable Development Goals Advocate by the United Nations, His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, CON, Emir of Kano, has further deepened his commitment to the fight for a just society, and we are thrilled to have him on board,” he added.

While reacting to the appointment, His Emir said, “I look forward to working with 1 Million Teachers in its laudable efforts at providing access to high quality teacher education in various communities around the world, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. I am indeed excited about the project and its future impact on the education sector in Nigeria.”

1 Million Teachers (1MT) is aimed at enabling unrestricted access to high quality teacher education to communities with poor access to education around the world, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa.

With a strong operation network in about 12 African countries, 1MT works with local and international partners to train committed educators who inspire and work with their colleagues to enhance students’ learning outcomes.
