The Kwara State Government Thursday closed down 99 illegal private schools across the state.

The affected schools, according to the Press Secretary of the state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Kamaldeen Y Aliagan, included private nursery and private schools under illegal operation by their proprietors.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajia Mariam Ayodeji Garba, said the owners of the alleged schools violated the laid down rules and regulations of government in respect of the establishment of the schools.

She warned that the present government under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq will not compromise standard in the education sector and other sectors of the economy.

Hajia Garba said the present government was committed to the provision of sound and quality education that will make products of the schools compete favourably with other students across the globe.
