Succeeding in School Business

Some schools are known for changing teachers every term, everyone in the area knows them. This is not good for a growing school. Good schools retain teachers. When a child is in basic 1, he already knows the teacher that will teach him in basic 2. That’s how it should be. So I’m going to give you;

3 TEACHER RETENTION STRATEGIES FOR GROWING SCHOOLS

While growing up, some of us wanted to work in some places. Why?

1) Salaries and Benefits: Schools that pay well and early enough will retain better teachers. This can’t be overemphasized. Teachers that are not well paid will “jakpa”. Everyone is looking for better opportunities.

Have something like “teacher of the month”. This can be for the teacher who came early all throughout that month.

Celebrate their birthdays. You’d be surprised they’ll celebrate you too. People generally like to be where they are celebrated. IT WORKS.

2) Reduce Teacher’s Pain: One of the ways you can do this is not to talk down on your staff in the presence of a parent (that thing can be so painful). Issue a query.

3) Correct professionally.
Some “ogas “will slap a teacher because the teacher offends a parent… A paying parent. Okay!

3) Hire the Right Staff the Right Way

Don’t be in a hurry to have teachers in your classroom. Do a background check. Some teachers have the habit of changing schools every term. They go from school to school to cause chaos… BE CAUTIOUS!

Start giving employment letters… but before you do, issue the staff a handbook.

The handbook contains rules, standards and procedures of an organization.

If you don’t give maternity… put it there.

If a staff member will be in your organization for 10 years and there will be no increment in salary, put it there

Where there’s no law there’s no sin ( Romans 4:15)

Save yourself the stress of talking and talking…

When they agree to the schools’ policy, then give an employment letter.

Its a new term, you have hired new staff. Do what’s necessary.

Even with all these, some teachers will still go. They would have taught in 6 schools in 2 years. Don’t be bothered. Some people will continue to roam like the Romans. “Na so dem be”. Just relax!

School business can be easier. DO THE NEEDFUL……Rest, Laugh and take pictures on the first day of the new term, create memories…… COS LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
