1. The University was established on April 23, 1990 under the old Oyo State with the name Oyo State University of Technology, Ogbomoso (OSUTECH).

2. Upon the creation of the Osun State out of the Old Oyo State in 1991, the name of the University was changed to LadokeAkintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH).

3. The institution was renamed to honour Ladoke Akintola, a former premier of the Western Region of Nigeria.

4. The university was jointly owned by the Oyo and Osun States until November 20, 2020 following a mutual agreement between the two states.

5. LAUTECH has about thousand (30,000) students.

6. The institution has more than three thousand (3,000) highly skilled and internationally acclaimed staff (academic, nonteaching and contract) in its employ.

7. LAUTECH operates two campuses.

8. The main campus is located in Ogbomoso and the newly established College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources in Iseyin.

9. The motto of the university is “Excellence, Integrity and Service”.

10. Razaq Olatunde Rom Kaliluis the current acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

11. Olusegun Ladimeji Oke served as the inaugural Vice-Chancellor of the university when it was first created.

12. Late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola assumed the role of the first Chancellor in January 1991.

13. The university commenced its initial academic session on 19 October 1990, with 436 enrolled students and 4 faculties.

14. In 2003 and 2004, LAUTECH wad rated as the best state university in Nigeria by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC).

15. Umar Faruq Umar II, the 60th Emir of Daura Emirate is the chancellor of LAUTECH.
