The student community of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Osogbo, Nigeria, is reeling from a devastating accident that claimed the lives of three students and left several others injured.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening around the Okini-Ilobu Road as students were returning from an excursion to the picturesque Erin Ijesa Waterfall.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and friends of the victims in a memo shared and signed by the public relations officer, Bamigboye Oluwadamilola.

The three students who lost their lives in the accident suffered such severe injuries that their bodies were tragically burnt beyond recognition.

In the midst of this tragedy, NANS has also conveyed its deep gratitude for the prompt response and assistance from various individuals and organisations. Notably, Comrades Olakolupo O. Akinbode of the Nigerian Youth Congress, Adebisi Emmanuel, the SSA on Civil Society to the Osun State Government, Jola Akintola, the commissioner for health, and Comr. Oladejo Basiru Aderoju, SSA Student Matters to the Osun State Governor, have been commended for their invaluable support and intervention during this crisis.
