Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), expressed deep worry over the prevalence of Nigerian youth involved in cybercrimes.
In a statement issued by the EFCC, Olukoyede highlighted the alarming statistic that seven out of ten students in Nigeria are now participating in cybercrimes.
Speaking during a courtesy visit from Daar Communication PLC, Olukoyede called upon the media to play a crucial role in enlightening the youth about the detrimental consequences of such activities.
He emphasized the need for proactive measures to curb this menace, urging the media to design programs aimed at educating and dissuading young individuals from engaging in internet-related crimes.
The EFCC Chairman underscored the importance of shaping responsible leaders for tomorrow and urged media outlets to contribute to a wider campaign to address the adverse effects of cyber fraud on society.
