The Light Givers Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has granted scholarships to ten financially disadvantaged students in Anambra State, ensuring their access to both secondary school and university education.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, Dr. Onyinye Okeke, the Secretary of LGF, announced that the beneficiaries of the scholarships, which were sponsored by High Chief Stanley Obodoagwu, hailed from Abbott Girls Secondary School in Ihiala, Anambra.
Out of a pool of 45 indigent students who participated in the examination, ten candidates excelled and qualified for the scholarship, which amounts to millions of naira.
Mr. Ezeudo Gburugburu, the Founder and Financier of LGF, emphasized his commitment to securing a bright future for these young individuals, who represent the leaders of tomorrow. He stressed the importance of providing education to all students, with a particular focus on supporting those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Gburugburu also mentioned that the scholarship initiative was part of a series of events organized to commemorate the passing of his father, the late Eugene Obodoagwu, a prominent business figure.
Dr. Chukwuka Eto, a representative of the Anambra State Ministry of Education and a member of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Nnewi Zone, Awka, expressed appreciation to LGF for their support.
Additionally, Councillor Afam Ononkwo, who represents Ogburu Ward 5 in the Ihiala Local Government Council, conveyed gratitude to Obodoagwu and LGF for their consistent efforts in assisting the less privileged members of the community through various means.
The ceremony, held for one day, was attended by Mrs. Umennadi Eziamaka, the Zonal Director of Education for Nnewi Zone, and Dr. Sabina Chukwunedum, the School Principal.
