The cattle were placed under the university’s care by external stakeholders as part of its Cattle Production Venture, according to sources.
According to THE PUNCH, allegations of fraud arose when the stakeholders discovered a significant portion of their entrusted cattle missing, prompting accusations against FUNAAB.
However, the university swiftly addressed the accusations, asserting its commitment to integrity and transparency in its operations.
In a statement issued by the acting Head of Directorate of Public Relations, Olasunkanmi Olajide, FUNAAB clarified its stance, stating that any staff member found to have engaged in illicit activities leading to the loss of cattle is subject to legal proceedings.
The university emphasized its adherence to proper procedures and lamented the stakeholders’ failure to abide by established protocols.
Despite attempts by some stakeholders to circumvent university regulations, FUNAAB assured the public that it remains steadfast in upholding accountability and ensuring justice prevails.
The implicated employee has been interrogated, investigated, and handed over to law enforcement authorities for further inquiry, in accordance with legal provisions.
