Tragedy has struck the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa State, as a final-year student, Francis Paleowei, was mercilessly attacked and killed by a group of community youths.

According to a report, the heart-wrenching incident occurred at the popular Amassoma sand dump, where students often gather to unwind and socialise.

Francis Paleowei, an exceptional first-class student in the department of Political Science, fell victim to the senseless violence when the perpetrators demanded a mere N150 from him.

Refusing to comply with their demands, Francis became the target of their ruthless aggression, ultimately leading to his untimely demise.

Hailing from Obrigbene in Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state, Francis was a beacon of hope and academic excellence. His tragic death has sent shockwaves through the university community, leaving sorrow and unrest in its wake.
