As the preparation for the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest heightens, the management of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has directed that the students of the institution should, “as a matter of urgency and security expediency, remain calm in their hostels and halls of residences.”
This was communicated in a statement issued by the University’s Acting Registrar, Comrade Ambrose E. Odiase.
The institution noted that arrangements had been made with relevant security agencies to guarantee the safety of lives and property in and around the campus.
“Students and staff are hereby enjoined to avoid unnecessary movements throughout the proposed protests. You are therefore urged to restrict your travels for now, as travelling outside Ekpoma should be avoided.”
The statement further said that “those in the halls of residence should stay within the university premises while those off campus should restrict themselves to their residences.
“Staff and students should attend to normal academic activities and stay away from trouble spots to avoid any risk or potential danger that may arise from the proposed protests.”
Students were also urged to concentrate on the ongoing first-semester examinations without any fear or intimidation.
The protest which has continued to garner support, is meant to express concerns on issues such as hunger, poverty and hard economic situations facing the country.
