Nile University of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Nigeria, has launched a state-of-the-art Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) aimed at fostering innovation and sustainability.
The Fab Lab, equipped with advanced digital tools, will provide students and faculty with the resources needed to design and prototype solutions that can have a positive social and environmental impact. The unveiling took place on Wednesday, 20th November 2024, at the university’s campus, and was graced by the French Ambassador to Nigeria, H.E. Marc Fonbaustier, and Nile University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dilli Dogo FNAMed.
During his address, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dogo expressed appreciation to the French Ambassador and the government of France for selecting Nile University as a strategic partner. “The Fab Lab stands as a testament to our shared vision of academic excellence and innovation,” he remarked.
The Vice-Chancellor also extended his thanks for the ambassador’s donation of a mini-factory dedicated to managing plastic waste, which aligns with the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The factory will produce both semi-finished and finished products from recycled plastic.
Ambassador Fonbaustier also praised the partnership, emphasizing the importance of the collaboration. “The Fab Lab commissioning is just the beginning of what promises to be a robust, mutually beneficial relationship between the Embassy of France and Nile University,” he stated.
Following the ceremony, an interactive session was held for Nile University’s students, offering them valuable insights into various academic opportunities in France. The session was organized by Campus France, the higher education initiative of the Embassy of France in Nigeria, and featured representatives from over 22 French universities. This event allowed students to explore opportunities for collaborative research, exchange programs, and more.
