AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards 2024 offers $5,000 Prize

AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards has announced the commencement of applications for the prestigious AAAS Kavli Science Journalism Awards 2024. Originating in 1945, these awards recognize outstanding contributions to science reporting by professional journalists.

Renowned internationally for their commitment to excellence, the awards commend individuals for their coverage of sciences, engineering, and mathematics.

Benefits:
The awards comprise two categories: Gold, offering a $5,000 prize, and Silver, featuring a $3,500 award. Presentation ceremonies occur annually at the AAAS Annual Meeting held in February. Recipients are expected to attend the awards ceremony, with travel and hotel expenses covered, barring unforeseen circumstances. In instances of multiple contributors, travel expenses for one individual will be reimbursed.

Eligibility:
Open to journalists affiliated with independent news organizations worldwide.
Entries must be publicly accessible through subscription, newsstand sales, or online platforms.
Non-English submissions require an English translation.

Application process:
All submissions must be made online by August 1, 2024, 11:59 p.m. U.S. Pacific time. Materials must have been initially published, broadcast, or posted online during the contest year. There is no entry fee for participation.
