ABUAD produces agents of change — Afe Babalola

Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, has proclaimed that the institution is dedicated to grooming graduates who will become world reformers and lead Nigeria to its promised land.

Babalola made this assertion during the 9th Induction Ceremony of 95 graduates from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences over the weekend.

Speaking at the induction of the newly qualified registered nurses, Babalola emphasised that ABUAD graduates are trained to be agents of change equipped to transform the world.

“Since our maiden convocation on Sunday, October 13, 2013, we have turned out 1,420 graduates. They are not only doing well, but they are also agents and leaders of reformation,” said the legal luminary.

He continued, “We are the change that will change the world. We are breeding a new generation of leaders who will change the world for the better. I encourage you to always remember the wording of the university anthem, particularly as it has to do with determination, industry, philanthropy, and character. With all of these in place, we are on the path to changing the country for the better.”

During the ceremony, Farouk Abubakar, Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), represented by Yahaya Sumi, urged the inductees to explore new opportunities within the profession and to be exemplary ambassadors of their careers.

“I encourage you to learn from your senior colleagues. Be good ambassadors of the nursing profession and explore new opportunities,” Abubakar advised.

In recognition of academic excellence, Afe Babalola awarded a total sum of N5.5 million to outstanding nursing graduates. The best graduating and best-behaved student, Rosemary Oriwoh Osanudiamen, received N350,000, while the remaining students and the four male graduates each received N100,000.

Babalola emphasised that his commitment to rewarding excellence is driven by a desire to encourage scholarship and industry, serving as a lesson and inspiration to others.

According to the founder, ABUAD is committed to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also imbued with the values of determination, industry, philanthropy, and strong character.
