Address security challenges — NANS tells Tinubu

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called upon President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the safety of citizens and their properties.

The call was made by NANS Senate President, Elvis Ekudina, during a press conference held in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Ekudina emphasized the imperative for the student body to voice concerns about the nation’s security landscape.

He highlighted the pressing need for Tinubu’s intervention in addressing the escalating security challenges, encompassing issues such as kidnappings, bandit attacks, and assaults on security personnel.

Expressing deep concern over the recent attacks in Plateau state where innocent lives were lost, he stressed the urgency for a comprehensive investigation and urged the federal government to ensure the perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.

Calling for a strategic enhancement of intelligence gathering by security agencies, Ekudina asserted, “We call on President Tinubu to charge the leadership of our nation’s security agencies to improve intelligence gathering techniques to save us from future attacks and counterattacks.”

He underscored the fundamental right to life enshrined in the constitution, urging Tinubu to prioritize the security of all Nigerians and their properties.

Ekudina affirmed the commitment of Nigerian students to offer maximum support to the government in achieving its set objectives.
