Adekanye Bags Best Outstanding TG/PS Award at Top Schools Hall of Fame

In a remarkable recognition of excellence in education governance, Mrs. Anike Adekanye, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District II, has been honored as the ‘Year 2025 Best Outstanding Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary’ at the prestigious Africa Top Schools Hall of Fame award ceremony.

The event, held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, celebrated trailblazers in the African education sector.

The award was presented by the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Honourable Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, who lauded Mrs. Adekanye’s exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and transformative contributions to the educational landscape in Lagos and beyond.

While presenting the award, Commissioner Ali-Balogun highlighted Mrs. Adekanye’s exemplary administrative acumen and commitment to educational governance, stating that her leadership embodies the qualities essential for driving progress in the sector.

“If you want decency, if you want efficiency, if you want effectiveness, if you want to achieve performance, you just have to be very strict with policies, highly disciplined and at the same time, highly motivating,” he remarked.

He further noted that Mrs. Adekanye has won numerous laurels in various fields, including sports and culture, solidifying her reputation as a distinguished leader in education.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Joseph Ayodele, Group CEO of Africa Brand Review, emphasized that the award was strictly based on merit, given Mrs. Adekanye’s exceptional achievements in improving academic performance, fostering teacher development, and enhancing service delivery within Education District II.

He also underscored the significance of the Top Schools Hall of Fame Awards, now in its 10th edition, which seeks to recognize educational institutions and administrators making a lasting impact on the African education system.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Mrs. Adekanye expressed profound gratitude for the honor, dedicating the award to the teachers, staff, and students of Education District II. She acknowledged their dedication and hard work, which she described as the driving force behind the district’s continuous success.

She also extended her appreciation to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, and Commissioner Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun for their unwavering support in providing an enabling environment for educational growth in the state.

In addition to Mrs. Adekanye’s recognition, Education District II clinched multiple awards, including:

Oriwu Senior Model College – Top Performing School of The Year (2025)

Mrs. Iyabo Elushakin, Principal of Oriwu Senior Model College – Best Principal of The Year

The ceremony witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, Chairman of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission, who joined in celebrating the remarkable achievements of Mrs. Adekanye and her district.
