Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha Garba, has charged senior staff of the commission to embrace teamwork, innovation, and knowledge sharing in order to reposition UBEC for sustainable delivery of basic education in Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday at the opening of the UBEC Senior Staff Retreat (Phase II) themed “Repositioning UBEC for Sustainable Basic Education Delivery in Nigeria”, Garba said the retreat provides an opportunity for staff to reflect on the commission’s mandate and strengthen collaboration across departments.
“This morning, I welcomed participants at the UBEC Senior Staff Retreat (Phase II) themed Repositioning UBEC for Sustainable Basic Education Delivery in Nigeria,” she stated.
Garba acknowledged that while challenges persist in project implementation, collective effort remains the key to progress. “I emphasized that while challenges exist in project implementation, teamwork, knowledge sharing, and innovation remain key to advancing our goals. By engaging one another, listening actively, and negotiating solutions, we can strengthen our collective resolve to improve teaching and learning outcomes across Nigeria despite departmental and geographical differences,” she said.
Reiterating UBEC’s commitment to inclusive education, the Executive Secretary assured that the commission is focused on ensuring every Nigerian child has access to quality learning. “Together, we are committed to building a UBEC that delivers sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality basic education for every Nigerian child,” she added.
