ALU Partners AliBaba Business School for 2020 e-commerce Challenge

African Leadership University has established a strong partnership with the Alibaba Business School to launch the Africa edition of the Global E-Commerce Talent Challenge 2020

While disclosing this on Friday 17 April, 2020, the Founder and CEO of African Leadership Group, Fred, Swaniker, said that the challenge was seeking innovative digital solutions to support people, businesses and institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

“The Africa edition is a part of a larger worldwide competition hosted by Alibaba Business School,” he said.

He added that coronavirus had impacted our world in ways beyond imagination.

“Indeed, it’s not only going to be the old guard of politicians and white-collared corporate executives that will lead us forward,” he stated.

Swaniker affirmed that the economy had been greatly affected.

“The economic floor has collapsed from beneath our feet, and it’s going to require a new-generation of e-commerce entrepreneurs- more than anyone else in my view- to not only restore Africa’s economy, but more importantly unleash the wave of economic job creation and prosperity that Africa is truly capable of achieving,” he said.

He further stated that there are young digital natives who will innovate the next wave of technologies and online services that will make life better for every walk of life, especially the people of Africa who are badly in need at this consequential moment in history.

“From e-medicine to e-learning- the challenge that threatens our livelihood the most, may very well turn out to be the key to our continent’s greatest opportunities.

“Solving the world’s biggest challenges demands equally big partnerships, collaborations between the public, private, academic and non-profit sectors, partnerships that put the public interest ahead of self-interest,” he concluded.
