Alumni assoc of federal poly donates hostels worth N150m

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti Alumni Association has taken a step towards improving the living conditions of students by inaugurating and handing over two blocks of hostel buildings worth N150 million to the school management.

The National President of the alumni association, Abiodun Oyedokun, expressed concern over the inadequate hostel facilities for students and appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and old students to come to the rescue.

He emphasized the alumni’s determination to ensure that all students live on campus.

The hostels, which consist of four rooms each, were named after two distinguished alumni – the pioneer National President of the alumni association and immediate past Rector of the institution, Dr Hephzibah Oladebeye, and a deceased member of the association, Mrs Rita Aboloma. In addition to this, the alumni association is set to begin the construction of a 39-room two-storey hostel building, estimated to cost N800 million, to be named after Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje, a former governing council chairman of the institution, who has made a positive impact on the school.

With a population of about 15,000 students, the current accommodation in the school cannot accommodate all students, causing them to reside off-campus, which presents transportation challenges in the town. Oyedokun appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and old students for support to meet the accommodation need of the school, as the government alone cannot cater to all its needs.
