APPLY: 2024 Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship

The Alex Otti Foundation invites applications from eligible candidates for the 2023/2024 edition of its undergraduate scholarship scheme. The Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship aims to provide financial support to disadvantaged students with ancestral ties to, or residency in, Abia State, empowering them to pursue their educational goals.

The scholarship shall cover the costs of the tuition and living expenses of selected candidates across universities, polytechnics, and other higher institutions across the federation.

Requirements
To be eligible for the undergraduate Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

Current 2nd-year Students: Applicants must be in their 2nd year (200 Level) in any government-owned tertiary institution in Nigeria. Admission must have been secured in the 2021/2022 academic session.

CGPA Requirement: Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 in their first academic session (First Year).

Direct Entry Students: Those who secured direct entry admission into the 2nd year (remaining in the second year by the end of April 2024) are eligible to apply.

Who Should Not Apply? Specific Exclusions

Siblings of Current Scholars: Children sharing the same parents with current Alex Otti scholars are ineligible until their sibling’s scholarship runs its course.

Residency Requirement: The scholarship is for residents in Abia State. Regardless of ancestral ties, as long as you reside in the state, you are eligible.

Indigent Students: Preference is given to indigent students who genuinely cannot afford the cost of tertiary education. Those with the means are encouraged to contribute to society in alternative ways.

Available Programmes
The Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship is open to students pursuing all accredited courses in recognized Nierian institutions.

Participating Universities
Students from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education are all welcome to apply, once they fulfil the eligibility requirements.

Benefits
The Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship will cover the costs of the selected applicants’ tuition and living expenses.

Required Documents
While applying for the 2024 Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship, you will be required to submit the following documents;

Statement of Result: Submit a signed statement of results for the first academic session (First Year) during the final interview for shortlisted candidates.

Community/Religious Group Recognition: Provide a letter of recognition from their community/religious group leader or electricity bill for the last three months to prove current residency in Abia State.

Essay Submission: Submit a 1200-word essay divided into three parts, addressing gratitude, life’s greatest regret or worst decision, and the most important life decision with justification.

Means of Identification: Present valid means of identification.

Selection and Retaining the Scholarship
Scholarships will be granted based on the following criteria:

Strong Academic Background: Emphasis on personal academic excellence.
Leadership Potential: Recognizing candidates with leadership qualities.
Desire for Societal Contribution: Demonstrated commitment to using acquired knowledge for societal development.

Winners are expected to utilize their talents and expertise to enhance the lives of others, contributing to the overall well-being of Abia State and Nigeria.

Successful candidates must maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.5 every academic session for those studying in universities or its equivalent for those in other tertiary institutions. This commitment ensures the continuous enjoyment of the scholarship until graduation.

Applications can be completed through the online portal. Application deadline is March 24, 2024.
