The 2024 Programme and Project Management Atlas Corps Fellowship is an opportunity for you to develop your project management skills through capacity building, training and networking with like-minded individuals. The Programme and Project Management Atlas Corps Fellowship engages global professionals committed to social impact in 12-18 months of service with organisations in the U.S. to learn best practices, build organisational capacity, and return home to create a network of global leaders.

Atlas Corps is now accepting applications from programme and project management professionals to be considered for the Fellowship. Fellows will develop their skills by serving at mission-driven organizations to design, implement, and/or manage projects and programs in the social impact sector. These Fellows will also support the Atlas Corps mission of strengthening U.S.-based organisations by contributing their international perspective and expertise to advancing social impact goals. Candidates may use their skills and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Program and Project Design and Planning:

Creating annual and project-based work plans and schedules; designing program concept notes and structure; developing objectives and activities; maintaining a risk assessment matrix; facilitating an efficient resource allocation and budget planning process; and contributing to a program strategy.

Program and Project Coordination and Implementation:

Organizing and scheduling activities; monitoring program metrics and goals; tracking program budgets; facilitating communications about the program’s plan and implementation; developing program guidance and procedures; managing workflow across teams; and troubleshooting programmatic issues that arise.

Program Learning:

Conducting research on specific social issues to understand the latest trends and best practices; identifying opportunities for process improvements; enhancing programming tools and processes; and gathering insights and feedback from field staff.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Building and maintaining relationships with partners; corresponding with and supporting program participants and clients; organizing and facilitating meetings and events across the project life cycle; providing technical guidance and training in a social issue area; developing a stakeholder engagement strategy; and contributing to internal and external documents, including donor reports, project evaluations, progress updates, and external communication products.

Before accepting a Fellowship role, candidates will be given a position description and will directly interview with an organization to help determine whether a Host Organization placement is a good match for their skills, experience, and professional development goals.

Opportunities to Connect with Atlas Corps Fellows Globally

Fellows will also participate in the Atlas Corps Global Leadership Lab professional development series to develop their leadership skills and engage in networking opportunities with Atlas Corps Fellows from around the world. There is also the opportunity to participate in group cultural activities such as a D.C. Monuments Tour, sporting events, U.S. holiday celebrations, and more. In addition to building connections with peers during the Fellowship, alumni will also join the Atlas Corps network of approximately 1,700 rising leaders from 116+ countries.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates for this fellowship must have a college degree, be highly proficient in English, be no older than 35, and be committed to applying their experience in their home country or region after the program. Candidates should also have two years of experience implementing and managing programs and projects, preferably in one of the following social issue areas: Child Rights, Civil Rights/Civil Liberties, Democracy/Civic Engagement, Disability Rights & Inclusion, Education, Energy/Environmental Issues, Entrepreneurship, Food & Security/Agriculture, Gender Issues/Women’s Rights, Human Trafficking, Law/Legal Assistance, LGBTQ Rights, Peace Building/Conflict Resolution, Poverty/Hunger/Homelessness, Public Health/Health Policy, Race/Ethnicity Issues, Refugee / Humanitarian Relief, Wildlife/Animal Welfare, Workforce Development/Job Training, Youth/Leadership Development.

Desired Eligibility Criteria

Applicants do not need to possess all of the desired eligibility criteria. However, competitive candidates for this opportunity will meet some of the preferred eligibility criteria.

Hard Skills

Demonstrated experience in project management
Project Management certification
Knowledge in project design, planning and budgeting
Excellent written communication and research skills
Familiarity with project management software such as Asana, Trello, Monday, Atlassian, Huddle, or Microsoft Project.
Experience in facilitation and training, report writing, research, event planning, monitoring and evaluation, communications, stakeholder engagement and/or partnership building.
