Eligibility

Must be a Nigerian student and currently enrolled as an undergraduate in any tertiary institution within the country.

Must have and submit valid proof of Enrollment (University ID or Admission Letter)

Article Theme and Focus area

Participants are free to write on any of the themes listed below. Meanwhile, articles on any of the highlighted themes must be written in the context of Africa. (This could be its people, its culture, its society, a country or a region) Participants are encouraged to carry out diligent research and leverage the knowledge learned from their respective university coursework.

Economic development, Finance, or entrepreneurship

Social Issues and Cultural Dynamics

Sustainable development and environmental challenges

Policy, Politics, and Governance

Technology and innovation

Education and human capital development

Health and well-being

Women’s Empowerment and gender equality.

Guidelines

Articles should be within the range of 500 – 700 words (can exceed but not go below the minimum)

Articles should be written in English language

Articles written by ChatGpt will be spotted and outrightly disqualified

Articles written must not be time bound (i.e. should remain relevant even after an extended period)

Plagiarism is discouraged. Meanwhile, it is okay to reference authors or sources of articles used in the course of research

Articles must be received and submitted on or before the deadline

Criteria

1. Originality and Clarity of idea, opinion or analysis
2. Right use of grammar and context
3. Depth and intensity of analysis
4. Creativity in conveying ideas
5. Flow and Structure of article.

Prizes

1st Place – 100,000 Naira + (Internship)

2nd Place – 75,000 Naira + (lnternship)

3rd Place – 50,000 Naira

4th to 6th Place -20,000 Naira each

Application procedure and deadline

Applications can be completed through the online portal. Application deadline is January 25, 2024.
