Armless school girl writing with toes gets varsity admission

Maryam Umar, a 22-year-old school girl born without arms, is seeking assistance from the government, non-governmental organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to enable her to complete her registration at Gombe State University, where she has been offered admission to study Economics.

Despite her disability, Maryam is highly motivated and has the ability to perform various tasks with her toes, including writing and household chores.

According to Maryam, her parents do not have the financial resources to support her academic pursuit and she currently survives on alms from residents.

She scored 182 in the UTME and has four credits, including Mathematics and English in NECO.
