The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board has trained Education Management Information System officers from the 20 local government areas of the state on modern techniques of basic education data management.

The workshop, held on Saturday, at the SUBEB Conference Hall in Bauchi, was aimed at equipping participants with the necessary digital skills to effectively manage educational data in line with the standards of the Universal Basic Education Commission.

Speaking during the opening session, the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at SUBEB, Ilyasu Buba, described the Basic Education Management Information System as a comprehensive digital platform developed by UBEC to revolutionise education data management across Nigeria.

Buba, represented by SUBEB’s EMIS Officer, Hamisu Ibrahim, explained that the system serves as a centralised hub for collecting, organising, analysing, and reporting education-related data from early childhood care and development education to junior secondary school levels across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He stated, “The purpose of this workshop is to educate local government EMIS officers on new techniques of managing basic education data effectively.

“We expect full concentration from participants so that they can step down the knowledge to their subordinates for effective implementation,” Buba stressed.

He further urged the participants to demonstrate a high level of ICT professionalism while carrying out their duties, emphasising that accurate and timely data management is critical to improving the quality of education in the state.

In their joint vote of thanks, Ibrahim Mijinyawa from Toro and Hauwa Gadzama from Warji Local Government Areas commended SUBEB and UBEC for organising the training.

They assured that they would cascade the knowledge gained to their teams at the grassroots level to achieve the desired objectives. It was reported that the highlight of the event included the distribution of laptop computers and data collection forms to the participants..
