Bells University produces 37 first-class graduates, prepares for 15th convocation

Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun has produced 37 first-class graduates and will on Saturday, 4th November, 2023 hold her 15th convocation for the award of first, postgraduate degrees and diplomas to deserving graduates.

A statement signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jeremiah Ojediran gave a breakdown of the categories of graduates as 191 Postgraduates, 295 Direct Entry (Top Up) Students and 448 graduate students will be awarded various degrees.

The VC announced that the graduating classes are across the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (COLNAS), College of Management Sciences (COLMANS), College of Environmental Sciences (COLENVS) and College of Engineering (COLENG).

Activities lined up for the weeklong ceremony showed that Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies, is expected to deliver the 15th Convocation Lecture.

According to the VC, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, who will deliver the combination lecture themed: “Technological Emancipation of Africa and the Caribbean in Digital Space and Global Drive for Reparation” will also be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree.

Speaking on the milestone archived by the university, Prof. Ojediran said the Bells University of Technology is now ranked in the 51 – 60 range on the Times Higher Education (THE )- Sub-Saharan Universities Ranking and 12th in Nigeria having been previously placed on Reporting Status.
He added that the College of Food, Agricultural Science and Technology (COLFAST) is expected to take off for the 2023/2024 academic session having secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

 

He added, “In a bid to contribute to the sector and key into the vision of the Promoter, all Agricultural Programmes in the College are to run Tuition Free.

“BellsTech represented Nigeria at the Hultz Global Final in France having won the Regional Pitch Prize in Nigeria. The first ever Scopus Indexed International Conference was held on September 18 – 21, 2023 with over 194 participants cutting across Africa, Asia and Europe hosted by the College of Engineering, (COLENG).

“BellsTech’s products are World Changers who will start the next phase of their journey by positively impacting their immediate Community, like many before them. BellsTech is proud of the positive news we continually receive from Alumni on their performances as offspring of this Vision and, we will continue to identify with them,” he added.

Activities lined up for the 15th convocation that will commence from Monday, 30th October to Saturday, 4th November 2023 will feature a health talk, induction for Computer Science graduates by the Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), induction of Engineering graduates by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Science/Technology fair, novelty match and convocation play titled: “Our Husband has gone Mad Again” by Ola Rotimi.
