Benin NSE donates research materials to UNIBEN departments

The Benin branch of the Nigeria Society of Engineers has donated research materials to the Departments of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Production Engineering, and Civil Engineering of the University of Benin.

The Chairman of the NSE, Benin branch, Evukowhiroro Ojegba, on Tuesday, told South-South PUNCH that the donation of the materials was part of NSE’s support to the growth and development of engineering in the institution.

Ojegba said the NSE, Benin branch has always been at the forefront of providing support for communities and schools in its drive to contribute its quota to the development of society.

He said that the branch under his leadership remained committed to the development of the engineering profession through research and innovations.

Ojegba said, “Our desire as a body is to help advance the development of engineering in society by donating research materials to higher institutions.

“We donated materials to the Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Production Engineering, and Civil Engineering departments of the University of Benin. I am sure the students will benefit greatly from these donations and hopefully, they will become adept in their course of study.

“Under my leadership, the branch remains committed to the development of the engineering profession through research and innovations.”

The chairman commended the members for their financial contribution towards the realization of the donation of the research materials to the three departments.

He vowed to continue to embark on laudable programmes and activities that would further place NSE, Benin branch on a lofty and noble pedestal.

The Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor, who received the materials on behalf of the faculty, commended the NSE, Benin branch for the kind gesture and assured that the material would be put to good use.

The Dean also pledged the donation of N100,000 on behalf of the faculty as support toward the forthcoming 7th Late Engr. Godfrey Aiwerioba Memorial Lecture.
