Breaking: Yabatech Loses Director to Covid-19, Shuts Down Campus for 2 Weeks

The authorities of Yaba College of Technology have ordered the closure of the institution following the death of a medical director.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Academic Board, Mrs Osidipe M. O.

“The Academic Board at an emergency meeting held on Tuesday January 26, 2021, was presented with the report of the Ag. Director, Medical Services on Academic Planning Unit (APU), M.A O. Omoighe, who passed on in the early hours of Sunday due to COVID-19 complications,” the statement read.

“The Academic Board considered the recommendations and approved that the college begin online teaching Immediately.

“For smooth lecturing, lecturers should provide lecture notes to students beforehand and utlize the on-line periods for explanation of the notes,” it added.

The statement said that lecturers are to adopt acceptable modality for the on-line lecturing.

“Any meeting of more than ten (10) persons should be held virtually.
Students should vacate the hostels latest by Thursday January 28, 2021

“Management will make arrangement to decontaminate the college in due course. This will be done on weekends.

It concluded that offices are to operate at half capacity. “Any staff who manifests Malaria symptoms should self-isolate immediately for two weeks and go tor CovID-19 test.”
