British Canadian University appoints Prof Adekojo as Vice-Chancellor

The Board of British Canadian University (BCU), Obudu, Cross River State, has announced the appointment of Prof. Adekojo Waheed as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor. His five-year tenure takes effect immediately.

Prof. Waheed, a highly respected scholar and seasoned administrator, is a Professor of Thermofluids and Fluid Mechanics at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He previously served as FUNAAB’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), contributing significantly to research development and academic growth.

He holds a Doctor of Engineering Science (Dr. Eng. Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from Aachen University of Technology (RWTH), Germany, as well as Master and Bachelor of Engineering degrees from the University of Ilorin, where he graduated with Second Class Honours (Upper Division).

Prof. Waheed’s pursuit of academic excellence has earned him several prestigious recognitions, including the Commonwealth Fellowship at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, and a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarship for his doctoral studies in Germany. At the University of Ilorin, he was celebrated as the Best Graduating Student and University Scholar in Mechanical Engineering.

Reacting to the announcement, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated Prof. Waheed on what he described as a well-earned appointment. He praised Waheed’s exceptional leadership track record and expressed optimism that he would steer BCU toward greater academic prominence and global relevance.

Prof. Waheed is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FNIMECHE), and a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

His appointment marks a new chapter for BCU as it continues its quest to strengthen academic standards, foster innovation, and expand international partnerships.
