Candidates caught cheating to get zero marks in affected subjects – Machogu

The Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Ezekiel Machogu, has said that candidates caught in examination malpractice will get zero in the affected subjects.

Machogu disclosed this on Wednesday December 21, 2022.

According to him, 252 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidates involved in malpractices will receive their results.

The CS maintained that this will be in a bid to achieve full transition to secondary school.

“The candidates will receive their results and will transition to secondary school. This is in the spirit of 100 per cent transition,” he said.

Machogu who released the 2022 KCPE results said 252 were caught engaging in the vice across nine examination centres.

He added that the candidates were not awarded any marks in the subjects they engaged in malpractices.

“Overall there were 252 candidates in 9 examination centres who were found to have engaged in malpractices. These candidates have been scored zero in subjects where they engaged in malpractices. None the less the affected students overall marks will be computed less the mark awarded in the affected subject.”
