The University of Lagos has revealed that it would admit only about 30% of its carrying capacity among the qualified candidates who sat for 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, disclosed this in the newly-amended academic calendar.
He said, rather than cancel a whole academic session due to the prolonged school closure following COVID-19 pandemic, the university has resolved to admitting a certain percentage of its carrying capacity among the qualified UTME candidates who sat for the exam.
Professor Ogundipe has also made a notice concerning merging of the 2020/2021 aspirants with the 2021/2022 aspirants to adjust the academic calendar.
The university would admit 30% of its carrying capacity among 2021 UTME Candidates. Likewise, 70% of its carrying capacity among 2020 UTME Candidates.
“UNILAG would not follow any university that has cancelled a whole session due to the general school lockdown in the country.” he said.
Professor Ogundipe, however noted that UNILAG was passionate about admitting a significant number of qualified students with special needs and the brilliant indigents and also make their studies worthwhile.
