COVID -19: WAEC Postpones 2020 Examinations, Changes Timetable

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has suspended the 2020 WAEC examination which was earlier scheduled to commence on April 6, 2020.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of WAEC’s Nigerian Office, Mr. Patrick Ehidiamenn Areghan on Friday 20th March, 2020.

“The suspension was made after considering the effects of corona virus and its implication on the candidates,” he said.

“Consequently, the earlier released timetable for the conduct of the examination is hereby suspended until further notice. We wish to assure all candidates, schools presenting candidates for the examination, all stakeholders, and indeed, the general public that this decision will be reviewed once the health situation improves,” he noted.

The body also disclosed that the earlier released time table of the examination had been suspended. Candidates are therefore assured of a new date for the exam.

“We enjoin all school principals presenting candidates for the examination to please inform their candidates accordingly. A new date for the commencement of the examination will be communicated to schools and all stakeholders in due course,” he added.
