Democracy Day: FG declares Wednesday public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 12 June, 2024 as public holiday to commemorate this year’s democracy day.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, Tuesday in Abuja
The minister who congratulated Nigerians on the occasion, said the celebration is a moment of reflection for the nation on the democracy journey thus far.

He said, “As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secured, peaceful, and indivisible entity.”

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gog- Ndayako, he urged Nigerians to remain steadfast on the tenets of democratic
governance.

Tunji-Ojo assured that President Bola Tinubu is committed to positive reforms to revive the nation’s economy and enhance security.

The minister therefore called on Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to appreciate the progress that has been made, and look forward to a better future for the nation’s Democracy.

“Minister Tunji-Ojo wishes Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day celebration,’ Gog- Ndayako said.
