Digitalisation of medical lab registration begins in Nigeria

The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) has announced the commencement of an online registration process for medical laboratories in Nigeria. The move is aimed at enhancing the delivery of medical services across the country.

Registrar of the MLSCN, Tosan Erhabor, disclosed this at a meeting with stakeholders in Abuja, where he urged them to take advantage of the new digital framework.

Erhabor emphasized that the online registration process would increase efficiency, transparency, and speed of service delivery, as well as data management. He added that the purpose of the meeting was to enable stakeholders to witness the ongoing digitalisation process of the medical laboratory registration and provide constructive feedback.

The new registration system will allow medical laboratory proprietors to register their laboratories seamlessly and from their preferred locations without the need to visit the council’s headquarters in Abuja. This automation is a significant step towards ensuring that the council’s processes are moved from manual to digital platforms.

The meeting was led by Prof. Effiong Akpan of the University of Calabar, who lauded the council’s management for their efforts in scaling up hitherto manual processes into the digital environment despite economic challenges. He expressed confidence that stakeholders would be proud of the council’s efforts.
