The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, has called on the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Nabanje, Katsina State, to embrace strategic and transformational leadership in promoting innovation, food security, and youth empowerment.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held on June 17 at the Federal Ministry of Education headquarters in Abuja, Prof. Ahmad emphasized the need for transparency, sound governance, and robust partnerships with host communities, private stakeholders, and international development bodies.
She noted that the College holds a critical role in actualizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in training graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers.
“The appointments you have received are a national call to service,” the Minister declared. “I urge you to be driven by the need to leave a lasting legacy through strategic leadership, innovation, and community engagement.”
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abel O. Enitan, and Director of University Education, Mrs. Rakiya Gambo, charged the Council with a responsibility to uphold accountability and excellence in their oversight.
The newly appointed Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Tai Oluwagbemi, expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in the members and promised to work towards building the institution into a centre of excellence in agricultural education and technology.
Other members of the Council include the College Provost, Dr. Mukhtar Habib; Labiru Musa Kafur; Yusuf Hassan; Prof. Abdulsamad Umar Jibia; and Prof. Inuwa Shehu Usman.
Also present at the inauguration was Alhaji Ibrahim Masari, Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs.
