Education ministers commit to implement presidential directives on IPPIS

Federal Ministry of Education, Education Minister Professor Tahir Mamman affirmed the ministry’s unwavering commitment to fully implement the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) directives, particularly concerning Tertiary Institutions nationwide.

During the meeting, Professor Mamman assured the leadership of the Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Education in Nigeria of the ministry’s dedication to ensuring compliance with the presidential directives within the legal framework. The focus is on facilitating a seamless transition to IPPIS for the tertiary institutions across the country.

Ensuring industrial peace and harmony in the nation’s Colleges of Education is a top priority for the ministry, according to Professor Mamman. He pledged to maintain a consistent and positive interface with the committee, fostering collaboration to address any challenges that may arise during the implementation process.

Minister of State for Education, Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, echoed the sentiment, commending the positive attitude displayed by the leadership of the Colleges of Education. Dr. Sununu emphasized the ministry’s commitment to reciprocating this cooperation to establish a harmonious working relationship between the ministry and all Colleges of Education nationwide.

In his address, Dr. Sununu called on the leadership of Colleges of Education and relevant stakeholders to collaborate closely with the ministry. He urged them to work towards improving student enrollment, ensuring a steady supply of qualified teachers at the basic level of the educational system.

Furthermore, the Minister of State for Education highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts to create incentives for teachers and mobilize increased enrollment into the Colleges of Education. The goal is to enhance the quality of education and provide a conducive environment for both educators and students.

Chairman of the Committee of all Provosts of Colleges of Education Nationwide, Professor Faruk Haruna, and Chairman of the Committee of Provosts of Federal Colleges of Education, Dr. Ali Adamu, jointly appealed to the ministers for support in expediting the implementation of the presidential directive to remove Colleges of Education from the IPPIS.

The education ministers affirmed their commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful transition to the IPPIS, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of the educational landscape in the country.
