The Federal Ministry of Education has pledged to work with the National Education Awards Programmes (NEAP), a non-governmental organisation focused on youth empowerment, to strengthen education reforms and promote student excellence.
Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, made the commitment during a courtesy visit by NEAP officials in Abuja, where she called for a structured framework to guide the collaboration.
“I need a clear framework of the NGO to have a roadmap and picture of how we can support. We are always ready to listen and adopt a collaborative approach,” the Minister said.
The Minister’s Senior Special Assistant, Professor Ali Idris, reinforced the Ministry’s readiness for synergy with groups that share the national vision. “The door is open for partnerships that reflect national values and align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he stated.
Earlier, NEAP Chairman, Engr. Anslem Ijebor, highlighted the organisation’s flagship initiative, Catch Them Young, which rewards outstanding students in national examinations with scholarships of ₦500,000, ₦300,000, and ₦200,000. He added that NEAP is also working to revive Nigeria’s reading culture, support girl-child education, and discourage harmful youth practices.
Both parties agreed to develop a transparent and well-defined framework for collaboration, with the shared goal of empowering young Nigerians and advancing education reforms nationwide.
