Hong Kong, November 2025 — Edugist, Africa’s pioneering education newsroom and innovation lab, is proudly representing the continent at the Hong Kong Laureate Forum 2025, one of the world’s most distinguished gatherings celebrating science, discovery, and intergenerational collaboration.
The Forum brings together laureates of the Shaw Prize, Nobel Prize, and Fields Medal, alongside emerging scientists and thought leaders from across the globe. Over five days of intensive discussions, workshops, and cultural exchange, participants explored how scientific inquiry can drive progress, innovation, and global connection.
Edugist’s invitation — with all travel and accommodation fully covered by the Forum, this reflects growing recognition of the platform’s unique contribution to education journalism and innovation in Africa. It also underscores the importance of amplifying African perspectives in global conversations about science and learning.

“Being part of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum is both an honour and a responsibility,” said Elvis Boniface, Founder and CEO of Edugist. “It is a reminder that Africa’s education story belongs in global spaces, and that the continent’s future depends on how boldly we connect education with science, innovation, and storytelling.”
At the Forum, Edugist will engage in rich exchanges with laureates and young scientists from every continent, exploring shared values of curiosity, mentorship, and collaboration. Discussions ranged from the ethics of discovery and the future of artificial intelligence to the urgent need for education systems that cultivate inquiry and critical thinking rather than rote memorisation.
Boniface added that one of Edugist’s key takeaways was the power of curiosity as a universal language. “The world’s greatest scientists began their journeys with questions. For Africa, our challenge and opportunity lie in building classrooms that keep curiosity alive — where students are encouraged to ask why not? instead of why?,” he said.
Edugist’s participation in the Hong Kong Laureate Forum reinforces its growing leadership as a hub of education innovation in Africa. Through initiatives such as:
-
- FixIt — a citizen-led education accountability platform,
- The Out-of-School Children Desk — spotlighting efforts to bring every child back to learning, and
- The Edugist Climate Classroom Project — integrating climate literacy into schools and storytelling,
Edugist continues to bridge journalism, data, and community engagement to advance education across the continent.
“Our time in Hong Kong deepens our conviction that education journalism can do more than inform — it can inspire,” Boniface said.
He added; “We will return home ready to translate these global insights into local impact, ensuring Africa’s learners and educators are part of the global knowledge ecosystem.”
The Hong Kong Laureate Forum 2025 has become a landmark experience for Edugist, one that strengthens its mission to connect science, education, and storytelling as tools for transformation.
Edugist will continue to share insights and reflections from the Forum through its platforms under the banner #EdugistLiveInHongKong.
