In a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to academic excellence and global competitiveness, Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, has announced the promotion of four distinguished members of its academic staff—three to the rank of Professor and one to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor).
According to a statement issued by the University’s Registrar, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, the promotions followed a rigorous evaluation process conducted by both internal and external assessors.
“The promotions, approved after rigorous evaluation by internal and external assessors, mark a significant milestone in the University’s pursuit of scholarly distinction, innovation, and institutional development,” the statement read.
Those promoted to the prestigious rank of Professor are:
Prof. Omotola Dada, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences
Prof. Wole Adamolekun, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Director of Academic Planning
Prof. Lateef B. Salaam, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences
In addition, Dr. Titilayo Akinwumi of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science was promoted to Reader (Associate Professor).
Prof. Omotola Dada is a renowned environmental scientist whose work spans ecology, environmental biotechnology, and sustainability science. A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, she is widely published in areas such as plastic biodegradation and environmental remediation. Her recent international research on aquatic plastic biodegradation has gained global recognition. As Acting Dean, she has led several research and academic initiatives in Allied Health Sciences.
Prof. Wole Adamolekun is a seasoned communication strategist with more than four decades of experience in the oil, micro-credit, and development sectors. He has authored several books and over 40 academic articles in strategic communication, public relations, and development media. His leadership roles in curriculum design and academic planning have shaped the university’s academic framework.
Prof. Lateef B. Salaam is a microbiologist and molecular ecologist known for his research on microbial metagenomics, environmental health, and pollution control. His work in bioremediation and microbial ecosystems has earned him national and international acclaim, and he remains a dedicated mentor to emerging scholars.
Dr. Titilayo Akinwumi, now a Reader, is an accomplished mathematician with expertise in stochastic processes, mathematical modeling, and quantum differential equations. A graduate of Ekiti State University and the University of Ibadan, her research continues to influence both theoretical and applied mathematical studies.
Reacting to the development, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Sunday Babatunde Adeyemo, commended the newly promoted academics for their dedication and scholarly contributions.
“These promotions are well deserved and reflect the high standards Elizade University has set for academic excellence,” he stated. “The University is proud of these scholars and their continued commitment to advancing knowledge, mentoring students, and promoting the University’s mission.”
He also noted that Elizade University’s rising profile in research and innovation is due in part to the strength of its academic leadership.
“The University’s progress in research, innovation, and academic quality continues to gain attention nationally and internationally, in part due to the strength and vision of its academic leadership,” he added.
