Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, has said entrepreneurial education is now compulsory for all its students at all levels.
Speaking during the matriculation of about 545 students into the school, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Bandele, explained that a student would not be able to graduate if he or she did not pass every entrepreneurship course that will span over every level.
The university admitted 502 students out of the total new intakes into 100 level while the remaining 43 were admitted to 200 Level.
He said, “To be an achiever in our present world requires skill acquisition, capacity development and entrepreneurial education that equip children to be employers of labour and not a consumer. Anchor University decidedly initiated through her senate to strengthen entrepreneurship development in the university. From the 2023/2024 academic session, entrepreneurship education will be compulsory for all students at all levels, whatever may be your course of study.”
He, however, cautioned students to shun unruly activities and behaviours such as fighting, cultism, hooliganism, examination malpractice and indecent dressing among others, stressing that the university had zero tolerance for these vices.
Bandele said, “You are expected to pursue excellence all around by attending every fellowship and spiritual gathering expected of you, being punctual in class, at meetings, and also respecting constituted authorities and the elders,” he stressed.
He emphasised that focus should be paid to courses that would aid the rapid development of the country.
