Eti-Osa students win spelling bee

Two outstanding pupils, Sanni Amira of Jamatul Islamiyah Primary School and Igbinedion Dara of Agbara Community Senior Secondary School, have emerged winners in the Eti-Osa Local Government Spelling Bee Competition, showcasing academic brilliance and discipline.

The competition, which featured 20 participating schools — nine primary and eleven senior secondary schools — was organized by the Eti-Osa Local Government Education Authority to promote literacy and encourage academic excellence among pupils in the area.

In her remarks, the Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, Hon. Adeola Adetoro, applauded the winners for their exceptional performance, saying their victory had made the council and Lagos State proud.

“I applaud the pupils for their performance in the spelling bee. The time and effort put into teaching them are yielding results. It’s also important to appreciate the teachers, who worked and contributed to the success story,” she said.

Adetoro also commended the dedication of teachers across the participating schools, noting that their commitment to student development continues to reflect positively on the community’s educational growth.

Winners in the primary category included Sanni Amira (first place, Jamatul Islamiyah Primary School), Cecilia Moses (second place, Ilasan Primary School), and Ummi Jordan (third place, Ikota Primary School).

For the senior secondary category, Igbinedion Dara of Agbara Community Senior Secondary School clinched first place, followed by Olabode Eyinjuoluwa of Ilasan Senior Secondary School and Bassey Essien of Agbara Community Senior Secondary School, who took second and third places respectively.

The chairman encouraged the winners to maintain their focus and represent Eti-Osa Local Government honorably at the state-level spelling bee competition, expressing confidence that they would bring more laurels home.

She further presented prizes to winners of a pre-contest spelling exercise, commending their participation and drive for excellence.
