In an address at a special reception held in Bida, Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and chair of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers has proclaimed that education holds the key to resolving many of Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

The event, which celebrated the promotion of Arabic scholar Shegu Abdulraman-Aboki at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, also marked the joyous wedding of the Etsu Nupe’s daughter, making it an occasion filled with significance and wisdom.

Etsu Nupe, represented by the Gafaka Nupe, Abdullahi Umaru-BanNachi, underscored the pivotal role of education when given the necessary attention and financial support.

He asserted that education could pave the way out of the nation’s difficulties and called on all stakeholders in the education sector to prioritize and reverse its neglect.

Abubakar passionately urged parents across the nation to ensure their children receive both Western and Islamic education.

He believed that such a dual foundation would equip the youth with the knowledge and skills to contribute substantially to the development of Nigerian society.

Etsu Nupe stressed the importance of Muslim parents supporting their children in acquiring both Islamic and Western education to help them become responsible citizens and take pride in their accomplishments.

He reminded parents that their moral duty, as directed by God Almighty, is to provide their children with a strong educational and moral upbringing.

In addition to his insights on education, Abubakar provided advice to newlywed couples, emphasizing the adoption of three core values – understanding, patience, and love – to build harmonious and successful homes.

He stressed that tolerance, patience, understanding, and love, among other virtues, are essential for a thriving and enduring marriage.

Etsu Nupe’s address resonated with the audience, prompting reflection on the vital role that education and strong family values play in Nigeria’s journey toward progress and prosperity.

His message serves as a call to action, urging the nation to invest in education and prioritise values that can lead to a brighter future for all.
