1. The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta was established on 1st January 1988 by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

2. It emerged from the splitting of the then Federal University of Technology, Abeokuta (FUTAB), which was originally established in 1983. This move was part of a broader strategy to focus on sector-specific universities to accelerate national development.

3. The university began academic operations in 1988 on the campus of the erstwhile Abeokuta Grammar School Isale-Igbein.

4. FUNNAB relocated to its permanent site at Alabata Road in 1997.

5. FUNAAB is located in Alabata, a quiet and rural area on the outskirts of Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State.

6. The vast campus spans over 10,000 hectares of land, providing ample space for research farms, experimental fields, student hostels, lecture halls, and administrative buildings.

7. The university has 351 academic programmes made up of 30 undergraduate programmes, 321 graduate programmes which include 31 Postgraduate diploma programmes, 152 Masters degree programmes and 138 Doctorate degree programmes.

8. FUNAAB is not just about classroom learning. It is one of Nigeria’s foremost research universities, especially in agriculture and related sciences.

9. The university is one of the top universities of agriculture in Nigeria.

10. The Motto of the university is “Knowledge For Development”.
