4. In February 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the immediate transformation of Nok University, Kachia, into a federal institution, now officially named the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.
5. The university is set to offer a range of programs with a strong emphasis on applied sciences and technology.
6. The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved about 18 programs for the institution.
7. These programs align with the federal government’s commitment to expanding STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and addressing critical skill gaps in the country.
8. The Kaduna State Government has allocated approximately 270 hectares of land for the university’s development. The Certificate of Occupancy for this land.
9. The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, is scheduled to commence academic activities in the 2025/2026 academic session.
10. The institution aims to admit its first batch of students by September 2025, with preparations underway to ensure a smooth take-off. The federal government has included the university in the 2025 budget, covering personnel, overhead, and capital expenditures.
