Former Lagos State Governor and immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, will deliver the Convocation Lecture at the 40th Convocation Ceremonies of the University of Ilorin.
According to a statement issued by the Registrar, Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, the lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the University Auditorium by 9:00 a.m.
The lecture, titled “The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World,” will explore strategies for young graduates to thrive in an evolving professional and social landscape.
Fashola, who is widely respected for his record of public service and intellectual engagement, is expected to draw from his experience in governance and leadership to inspire the graduating students and the academic community.
The convocation activities, which began on Friday, October 17, will run through Sunday, October 26, 2025. Highlights of the week-long celebration include religious services, a convocation play, and the conferment of degrees on graduates of various programmes.
The statement also revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will commission newly completed projects on the University campus as part of the convocation activities.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, will address a world press conference on Monday, October 20, to highlight the University’s achievements over the past year and outline its vision for the future.
The ceremonies will conclude with a Special Juma’at Service on Friday, October 24, and a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
