1. Federal University, Lokoja, was one of nine federal universities established by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
2. It was established in 2011 in order to make higher education more accessible in the state.
3. Lokoja is easily accessible from major cities like Abuja, Ilorin, and Enugu, making it an ideal site for a federal institution intended to attract a national student body.
4. Initially, the Federal University, Lokoja operated from a temporary campus within the town, using facilities like the former Government Science Secondary School. However, over the years, development has shifted to its permanent campus located at Felele.
5. This university has two campuses ,the permanent campus is located a felele in Lokoja , the other campus is located at adankolo in lokoja kogi state
6. FUL offers a growing number of undergraduate programmes across faculties such as Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Education, and Management Sciences.
7. The University Library was established in the same year the university was established with Dr. Adekunle Kareem Sanusi as the pioneer University Librarian.
8. The vision of the institution is to be the best among the nine (9) Federal Universities established in Nigeria in 2011 and one of the top ten ranking Universities in Africa.
9. Like other federal institutions, FUL aims not only to provide academic instruction but also to contribute to national development through research and community engagement.
10. The current Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) is Professor Olayemi Akinwumi. He assumed office on February 15, 2021, making him the third Vice-Chancellor of the university.
