In a bid to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Nigeria, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), has donated buses to Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTCs) in Borno and Adamawa States.

The handover ceremony, held in Abuja, saw FS&TC Lassa, FS&TC Michika, and FGGC Yola among the key beneficiaries.

Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, who oversaw the event, described the initiative as part of a larger national strategy to revamp technical education. She noted that the buses will play a crucial role in enhancing the mobility of students and staff, particularly those displaced by insurgency in the region.

“Our commitment to upgrading FSTCs remains unwavering,” she stated. “We will continue to invest in infrastructure, renovate facilities, and provide relevant training for educators.”

In a related development, all FSTC principals recently completed assessor training in Adamawa State—an effort aimed at building capacity and empowering them as leaders in the TVET sector.

Dr. M.A. Olodoo, Director of Technology and Science Education, lauded the resilience of FS&TC Michika and FGGC Yola, praising their efforts in supporting displaced institutions and protecting vital resources.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiary schools, Mr. Abubakar Nuhu and Mr. Abubakar Sanusi Sawawa described the buses as a timely intervention that would significantly improve logistics and foster technical education in the region.
