FG extends students holiday, announces new resumption date

The Federal Government has extended tertiary institution students holiday.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, disclosed this on Thursday March 9, 2023.

According to the minister, the decision was as a result of the postponement of governorship and House of Assembly elections by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adamu maintained that schools will remain closed till 20th of March 2023.

INEC revealed that due to reconfiguration of Bimodal Voter’s Accreditation System (BVAS), the commission has postponed governorship election expected to come up on Saturday March 11, 2023, by a week.

Universities and inter-university centres had earlier been directed to close between 22 February and 14 March ahead of the 2023 general elections.
