The Federal Ministry of Education has announced a change in the resumption date for the second term of the 2024/2025 academic session for all 112 Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria.
Initially slated for January 5, 2025, the new resumption date has been moved to January 12, 2025.
This update was communicated through a circular dated December 30, 2024, with reference number SAF/27/DSSE/US/GM/C.I/1/2. The document, titled “Extension of Resumption Date of 112 Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs),” was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo.
“I write to inform you that the Honourable Minister of State for Education has approved the extension of the resumption date for the 2nd term of 2024/2025 Academic Session of FUCs from 5th January, 2025, to Sunday, 12th January, 2025,” the circular stated.
The ministry explained that the adjustment was necessitated by ongoing renovation projects in many of the schools, aimed at improving the learning environment for students.
Parents, guardians, and principals have been urged to take note of the new date and ensure compliance as schools prepare for a smooth resumption.
