The Federal Government on Monday reiterated its commitment to provide quality education and foster intellectual growth across the country.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Andrew Adejo, pledged the Federal Government’s unwavering determination to expand educational opportunities and invest in the training of future educators.

Adejo was represented by the Director of Colleges of Education in the ministry, Dr Uchenna Uba.

Uba spoke at Ilawe Ekiti, during the official takeover of the site of the newly established Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti at an occasion attended by the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi.

The PS said, “This College of Education will serve as a hub of knowledge, innovation, and inspiration for aspiring educators. By establishing this institution, we are not just constructing physical structures; we are laying the foundation for a brighter and more educated future for Nigeria”.

Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye, who lauded the Federal Government for establishing the college in Ilawe Ekiti, said, “This will further improve access to qualitative education at the tertiary level for our teeming youths and thereby, ensure the provision of quality manpower for teaching and learning in Ekiti State for global relevance”.

Aderiye, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission, Michael Omolayo, pledged that the state government “will continue to provide the necessary support to ensure the smooth take-off of the college in Ekiti State.”

Oba Alabi, who expressed joy that the struggle for the establishment of the institution in the community which began in 2016 had yielded fruit, lauded former president Muhammadu Buhari and the incumbent Bola Tinubu for their roles in the establishment and take off of the institution.

The Provost of the college, Dr. Gbade Ikuejube, who said the event signalled the commencement of the institution in the town, added that the college was designed to run NCE and degree programmes.
