The Federal Government has rewarded 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullahi from Yobe State with N200,000 after she emerged as the World Best in English at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.
According to Punch, the cash award was presented on Thursday in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during a recognition ceremony.
Nafisa, who triumphed over contestants from 69 countries, was celebrated for her exceptional command of English, critical thinking, and articulation skills that distinguished her at the global competition.
Her achievement adds to earlier recognition from the Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF), which had awarded fully-funded scholarships to Nafisa and her teammates, Rukaiya Fema and Khadija Kalli, following their outstanding performance.
In a congratulatory letter dated August 5, 2025, and signed by Prof. Ahmadu Shehu, Acting Secretary of the AAF, the Foundation said:“The Atiku Abubakar Foundation is delighted to learn of your outstanding performance at the TeenEagle Global Finals, where you emerged as global winners in various categories of the competition.”
The TeenEagle contest is one of the world’s most prestigious academic competitions, testing students in English proficiency, problem-solving, and creativity.
With her victory, Nafisa has not only placed Nigeria on the global academic stage but also inspired young learners across the country.
