Former EKSU VC urges alumni to support alma mater development

Former Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof. Dipo Kolawole, has called on alumni of Christ Apostolic Church Grammar School, Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State, and other schools nationwide, to contribute resources towards the development of their former schools.

At the endowment fund launch and award ceremony organized by the CAC (CAPOSTO) Grammar School Efon-Alaaye Alumni Association in Lagos, Prof. Kolawole emphasised the importance of alumni giving back to their alma maters. He highlighted that this support is crucial for providing quality education and aiding government efforts, especially during economic hardships.

The event honoured Prof. Kolawole, a 1967 alumnus, and Lucas Daramola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, for their significant contributions. Prof. Kolawole expressed gratitude for the Hall of Fame honor and pledged continued support for the school’s growth.

Gbenga Oluwaniyi, another alumnus, delivered a lecture urging all former students to actively participate in the alumni association’s activities. He stressed the collective responsibility to improve the school, which suffers from government neglect like many public schools in Nigeria.

Adekunle Ojo, the association president general, commended the alumni for their transformative interventions. These include upgrades to the library, classrooms, science labs, sports pavilion, and more. Upcoming projects include a school clinic, solar energy installation, and an alumni house to honour distinguished members.

Kolawole and other speakers at the event underscored the ongoing need for alumni support to achieve the goal of making Christ Apostolic Church Grammar School a world-class institution.
